Starting Point

Kathmandu

The Upper Mustang Trek is one of Nepal’s most extraordinary cultural and trekking adventures, taking travelers into the hidden Kingdom of Mustang, a remote Himalayan region that remained closed to outsiders until 1992. Often referred to as the “Last Forbidden Kingdom,” Upper Mustang offers a unique blend of Tibetan culture, ancient monasteries, dramatic desert landscapes, and centuries-old traditions preserved for generations.

Located in the rain shadow of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, Upper Mustang features a striking landscape of colorful cliffs, deep canyons, windswept valleys, and medieval settlements unlike anywhere else in Nepal. The highlight of the journey is reaching the ancient walled city of Lo Manthang, the former capital of the Kingdom of Mustang, where visitors can explore royal palaces, Buddhist monasteries, and traditional Tibetan-influenced culture.

This remarkable trek combines breathtaking scenery, rich history, and authentic cultural encounters, making it one of Nepal’s most unique trekking experiences.
